It seems like I get asked the question why I became a therapist all of the time and it is almost always under the worst conditions.
You took the time to look up my website and click this link though so I will give you the honest true answer.
I struggled a lot with anxiety since I was a young kid. I was bullied because I was the smallest kid in class and I had food allergies. This lead to me becoming an adult "Nice Guy". A Nice Guy is someone who avoids attention and attempts to get his needs met in passive ways. Being a Nice Guy held me back most when it came to dating.
It was around this time that I started blogging my personal development/dating journey in an online forum. My posts would go on to generate over 90,000 views from men all around the world.
I found it thrilling that I could help guys avoid mistakes that I was making. I would get lots of positive feedback on my trial-and-error experimentations.
I still wasn't satisfied though. I wanted to drill down into the true root causes of anxiety so that I could heal guys at the source (myself included). I came to realize that recovery doesn't come in the form of a single e-book or Youtube video. It often requires careful guidance by a trusted expert over time.
It has been my life goal to become that expert.
What is your specialization?
I specialize in working with guys in high school and up. Often the guys who come to see me are coming to therapy for the first time and don't know what to expect. Or the guys who come to see me have tried therapy before but had negative experiences. My approach is based in research on the male brain. I focus on assisting my clients with building skills and finding solutions in a reasonable time frame. I have specific training in evidenced-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. When working with boys in high school I offer the option of 30-minute appointments as that can make the process of therapy more palatable.
How much do you charge?
I charge $150 for 50 minute sessions and $90 for 30-minute sessions.
Do you work with insurance companies?
Not directly but I provide superbills upon request so that you can get out of network coverage from your insurance company.
Is therapy confidential?
What we talk about will remain 100% confidential UNLESS there is an issue of mandated reporting required under law.
How long does treatment take?
Much like trying to figure out duration and dosing of medications, therapy is a process that requires personalization. We can work on figuring out what interventions work best for you during our sessions. During our first session I will collect data on how your moods are. After 5-10 sessions I will re-administer screenings so we can measure the progress that has been made and ensure that we are achieving your therapy goals.
Can you prescribe medications?
I do not prescribe medications. However, I can help connect you to qualified professionals that can if need be.
What does “LCSW” mean?
I am credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Arizona. An LCSW is the highest level of licensure for Clinical Social Workers.
Do you offer in-person visits?
I am currently offering both office visits and telehealth visits. My office address is 6909 W Ray Rd suite 15-109, Chandler, AZ 85226. For telehealth visits a secure link will be sent to you via a program called Simple Practice. If you need to access your secure Simple Practice Portal click on the link at the bottom of this website.
Is there anyone that you cannot have sessions with?
I cannot provide therapy outside of the state of Arizona. I also cannot provide clinical services outside of my scope of practice. If there is a clinical issue that can be better addressed by a different provider I will help you get connected.
How do I get on your schedule?
Click on "I'm interested" or "Book Free Consultation"! We can have a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss what you'd like help with.
